DALL General Meeting today

Dr. Herman L. Totten, Professor and Dean of the School of Library and Information Sciences at the University of North Texas, spoke to us today about the Library in the 21st Century. If you missed the meeting, you really missed an energetic and enthusiastic speaker.

A few points:
  • The physical library won't be going away soon
  • About half of the Library of Congress collection has been digitized
  • Librarians will still be collecting and making information accessible, no matter what the format
  • Only about 15% of serials are available electronically

Excellent program.
