1,000 Student Travel Award to attend the 2007 ALA Annual Conferencein Washington DC!
If you are interested in a career in business librarianship, RUSA’s Business Reference and Services Section invites you to apply for the BRASS Thomson Financial Student Travel Award. Now in its 14th year, the award is sponsored by Thomson Financial, a leading publisher of business information.
You will receive:
● $1000 toward travel expenses, as well as a year of student membership in BRASS/RUSA/ALA. The ALA Annual Conference is scheduled for June 21-27, 2007 in Washington, DC.
● Opportunity to attend BRASS committee meetings, presentations, and other conference events. Start to network with the most active business librarians in the profession.
● Special award presentation at the RUSA Awards Program. Your personal comments on your trip will be published in RUSA Update, a quarterly electronic newsletter. The winner of the award is announced in all major ALA publications.
To be eligible:
● You must be a student at an ALA-accredited library program.
● You must not have been awarded a previous or concurrent ALA sponsored travel award.
● You must be willing to attend BRASS activities at the ALA conference and write a short statement following the conference on your experience to be published in RUSA Update and on ALA's website.
● You must have a demonstrated interest in pursuing a career as a business reference librarian and the potential to be a leader in the profession. This may be demonstrated by any of the following: course work, internships, practicum, work experience, special projects, publications, or other related activities.
To apply: Send a brief personal statement (1-2 pages) explaining your interest in this award, a current résumé, a copy of your transcript, and two letters of reference to: David A.
