The Health Department of New York City is mulling a ban on artificial trans-fats being used in their 20,000+ restaurants.
If this happens, a trend could become precendent and we'll start to see this in other large cities. I understand Chicago is also looking at banning trans-fats.

According to the article the final New York board vote is in December.
