Author L'Engle Dies

Okay, I'm bummed...
Madeline L'Engle, author of that famous Newberry Award YA book, A Wrinkle in Time, died Sept. 6th at the age of 88. Her book is ranked as one of the best-selling children's books in history, with more than 8 million copies sold, but it also has been one of the most banned books.

"L'Engle, who had homes in New York City and Goshen, Conn., wrote more than 60 books, including memoirs, spiritual meditations and adult fiction." http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/index.php?id=43990

Wow, not even a chance to meet her in this lifetime.

So how to tie this entry into a law librarian's blog:
Blogger reads sci-fi/fantasy as a child, grows up to be a journalist, loves to research and discovers the library science field, works in the legal field...

This book was the first book I earned as a 5th grader in elementary school. In class, if you received so many points during the year by completing assignments, doing homework, etc., and when you reached those points, you could pick out a book from the teacher's bookshelf to keep for your very own.
