SSRN (Social Science Research Network) describes itself as "...devoted to the rapid worldwide dissemination of social science research and is composed of a number of specialized research networks in each of the social sciences." It is a pretty easy to browse and search web site for abstracts and forthcoming papers/articles.
SSRN has an iPhone app that was released in November of 2009 (blog post here). The good news is that you can search by author, keyword, abstract. The other good news is that you can read the abstract and the paper directly on your phone. The bad news is that there is no fielded search or browse feature.
Thus said, it is a fairly easy app to use, and could be useful for quick research away from a computer.
