Free Do-Nuts to Celebrate Inauguration Day

I just heard that this Tuesday, Krispy Kreme, is giving away a free doughnut of choice to each customer in honor of the presidential inauguration.

So, Starbucks, any free coffee to go with that doughnut? Not yet, unless you volunteer. "Customers who fill out a pledge card to give five hours of time to a local "volunteer opportunity" of their choice will receive a free tall brewed coffee beginning Jan. 21 through Jan. 25. Customers can pick up pledge cards inside stores."

And Dunkin' Donuts is jumping in...they will be selling a new "Stars & Stripes" doughnut for 89 cents through Tuesday. The frosted doughnut is decorated with red, white and blue star-shaped sprinkles.

Explosion downtown Dallas

There was an explosion this morning near I-35E and 500 Industrial, WFAA reports that it seems to have been a tank containing acetylene that exploded. I can see the smoke and fire from my building. This is the second explosion and fire near the southern part of downtown Dallas this summer.

Seen from our windows

Not the best picture in the world, but here's a snapshot from my phone of the warehouse that was on fire this afternoon south of downtown Dallas. You can see the convention center about midway in the shot (as a reference point).
