and the Future of Libraries
Hugh Forrest is
Director of SXSW (South by Southwest) Interactive, a five-day festival and
conference designed to promote community involvement with the innovation,
inspiration, and creativity for generating new ideas and emerging technologies.
Hugh will discuss counter-intuitive lessons learned from SXSW Interactive’s
success such as: SXSW Interactive is all
about social media, but people attend the event because they make great
face-to-face connections. SXSW Interactive is about the hottest new
technologies, but one of the most popular elements of the event is the SX
Bookstore. Hugh will use these and other points to argue that libraries need to
continue to change, evolve, and adapt. However, given the lessons of SXSW
