Whitepaper on citators

WisBlawg has a short post with a link to a whitepaper comparing caselaw citators from  Google Scholar, Fastcase, Casemaker, LexisNexis, WestlawNext, and Bloomberg. It also notes registration is required to access the paper. No big surprise: the big three (LN, WL, and BL) have the best cite check services.

Citation wars

Mark Gediman has a post at 3 Geeks and a Law Blog about the recent letters sent out from LexisNexis and Thomson Reuters regarding Lexis' inclusion of WL cites for unpublished cases. Both letters are reproduced in the post.

Another view of whether or not Lexis should be sold

Joe Hodnicki on Law Librarian Blog writes a long blog post regarding the whys and wherefores of whether or not it would be a good idea for Lexis to be put up for sale. Compare this to Jean O'Grady's post a few days ago that explored the idea of Bloomberg should think about purchasing Lexis.

Westlaw Portfolio App

Westlaw released it's Portfolio App for iPad. The app is relatively small and viewable through the web browser. Also available is free content such as articles, author interviews, book excerpts and audio clips. The app covers topics such as litigation, criminal law, family law, estate planning, bankruptcy, immigration and etc.
