2011 ABA Technology Survey suggests around 300,000 U.S. lawyers use an iPhone, around 130,000 use an iPad

Every year, the ABA Legal Technology Resource Center conducts a survey to gauge attorney use of legal technology. Continuing the trend that the ABA saw in last year's report (which I discussed here), this year's survey reveals that the number of lawyers using smartphones continues to increase. And for the first time, the survey tells us something about the number of lawyers using iPhones. (cont)

Computerworld - Apple's iPad tablet is being used by doctors, lawyers and businesspeople to ease their workloads, but many believe the popular touchscreen device can't yet replace a laptop for functions such as writing long documents.

The IT shop at Chicago-based law firm Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal allows the firm's lawyers to use iPads, and up to 100 of the 800 attorneys around the globe are already doing so -- at their own expense.

David Pogue's Gadget List

If you went to AALL this year and attended the keynote speech by David Pogue, you know he is a bit of a gadget nut. He has a recent post on his New York Times blog with his Gadget List of 2008. It is funny and useful at the same time.

Cell phones and the Do Not Call List

It is true, you may register your phone number on the federal Do Not Call list. Contrary to the occasional round of emails you might receive, cell phone directories are not going to be released to telemarketers in the near future.
